Trades Academy Launch 2014, a set on Flickr.

Thursday 13th February saw the launch of the 2014 Tamaki College Trades Academy.

The Trades Academy is now proud to offer four programme streams this year; automotive engineering, building and construction, catering and hospitality and digital technologies.

Trades Academy students and their parents enjoyed the opportunity to hear from past and recent graduates from the programme, including Victor Pupuo (who has secured a job with North Power) and Waiora Mihaka and Fineeva Taufalele (who were appointed Prefects for 2014).

Special guests included Dr Nikki Carter and Missy Herbert from the Manaiakalani Education Trust, who spoke about importance of Drivers Licences and some of the skills employers require for students to be work ready and the school's living Toanga, our Kaumatu, Mr Wally Noble, who spoke about his experiences as qualified tradesman.

The evening concluded in true Tamaki College fashion with something to eat.
