Master Chef TC Style...
TCTV had a yummy time during electives today. There was cookie making going on in the food room. Well we just had to go and check it out.....didn't we?

Namibian World Cup Support...TC Style!!
There have been flags, and food and match talk and all sorts of things going on at Tamaki College to celebrate the Rugby World Cup. Today's assembly was no different, with the focus being on Namibia.
It started with a prayer in Afrikaans.

Film Festival 2011
Well it's that time of the year again where the TCTV team have to start thinking about the film festival.
This year we are having a competition where small teams have made very short ideas. These ideas are here with a voting form. What we want you to do is watch the ideas then vote for your favorite on the form. The idea with the most votes by Friday 16th September will be made into the full 3 minute film for the festival in November.

Ball 2011
Our students at Tamaki College look great in their uniforms, they look great on the sports field but they really dress up well when it is time for the annual senior ball.

New Zealand Airforce visit Tamaki College
It was a really exiting day here at Tamaki College. The New Zealand Air Force visited in their helicopter which landed on the school field. Our students were out to watch as they came into land. Bay from the Tamaki College Service Academy was on the helicopter as it came from over the shore, around the Sky Tower and then into Glen Innes. On the return trip, Tulsa and Sone from of TCTV were on board.

Girls Rugby are just warming up!!...
The Tamaki College girl's rugby team are storming ahead this year. They came through their semi final with flying colours yesterday and they are really looking foreword to the championship final next week.

Thinking
Thinking is the word of the moment here at Tamaki College.
TCTV has a new team this term and they have been working had on their first video for you to enjoy. They have planned everything before hand, acted in it, directed, filmed and edited it all themselves. In some cases, this was the first time at trying something like this.

Netbook Day for the Year 10's!!!!
Friday was an exciting day for our two Year 10 classes who are participating in our netbook trial this year. They were given their netbooks and were helped in setting it up and getting on their Google Docs accounts.
We had loads of help on the day from Mrs Burt, Neven and Jan, so a huge thankyou to them.

Polyfest 2011 - The Kapa Haka Group...
The Kapa Haka group had a great time at Polyfest this year. They were a combined team with students from Glendowie College.
Here is a run down of their placings :-
1st place - Division C - out of 26 teams
Other placings:
1st over all - Moteatea (traditional chant)
1st Over all - Mita o te reo (Diction and use of Te Reo Māori)
1st Over all - Kaitataki Wahine (female leader)
2nd over all - Co-ed Mau rakau (weaponry)
3rd over all - Whakaeke (entry)
3rd over all - Whakawaatea (exit)
3rd over all - Poi
3rd over all - Kakahu Wahine (female costume)

Junior social 2011
The prefects and house captains have been working really hard recently to organise the Junior Social. The theme was "Rasta Vibes" and they decorated the auditorium beautifully for the night. The juniors had a great night of dancing.

Polyfest 2011...
It is that time of year again and here at Tamaki College the Samoan Polyfest team have been working really hard to get ready for the competition.
They had their Fia Fia night on Thursday night, where they performed to a packed auditorium of family and friends who had come to support them.

First 15 Squad show us what they are made of....
Last weekend, the First 15 Squad went to the Panmure Basin for a type of fitness training they had never done before. It was a mud run!!

Introducing the Electives....
There is something new and exciting going on at Tamaki College this year. It is called the Electives!!
These happen on a Tuesday morning and a Thursday afternoon and give the students a chance to have a go at all sorts of different activities that they would not normally get a chance to try.
Examples include swimming, baking, anaimation, preparing for polyfest, to name just a few...
There is even a TCTV elective and that new team of Chantelle, Allen, Tulsa and Soni have put together this first video for you have have a little look at some of the electives.

Athletics 2011...The Entrances
During the build up for Athletics day, the competition is always high for the four houses to produce the best march on, on the day. The prefects and house captains work hard on their chants and dance moves and make sure the that the rest of their house is well practiced for the events....

Athletics 2011...
It was a fabulous, hot afternoon on Tuesday this week and Tamaki College had their Athletics Day. Parents and staff were out on the school field waiting for the students to arrive in their house groups. It was a very colourful sight as they came out one by one, ready for an exciting afternoon of competition.
TCTV were there to catch all of the action as the students came out and as they competed in all the races.

Girls Touch Team Start the Sporting Year off...
Check out the Sports Page to see how the Girls' Touch team did in the first sporting event of the year.
Netbook Imaging Day....
It was a huge day here at Tamaki College today. Two of our Year 10 classes are taking part in the year long net book trial for Manaiakalani. Today was the day that all the net books were sorted out and made ready to go. The students will be using these to produce their work on Google Docs, using our cluster wide wireless network.
We had lots of help from our friends at Point England School who came to train our two Year 10 volunteers. Sela, Josh and Helen came and helped Boaza and Jessica learn how to set up the netbooks.

Great Start to the New Year...
